The Raven bed

This project is the first to incorporate some ideas that I have been working on for a couple of years. I have been looking at the art and carvings of my Gitksan nieghbours and have been getting very inspired to design and work with the lines and styles of the North-West Coast aesthetic. There are lot's more ideas along this line, keep checking back in the future to see where this goes.

This is the bed on display at the Nothern Wood Forum in Vanderhoof, B.C. in early May.

 

Here the bed is almost finished in my shop, a few days before the Wood Forum. Note the fluting in the headboard panels.

 

A detail of the Mykiss logo carved into the bottom of the post. This picture also shows the fluting in the headboard panel very well.
